We use a minimal set of cookies, all of which are essential for the Service to function. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

4. Local Storage

In addition to cookies, Scanlate uses browser local storage and IndexedDB for the following purposes:

  • scanlate-lang — Stores your preferred language for exhibit translations
  • scanlate-offline — IndexedDB database for offline exhibit content (only created when you download exhibits for offline use)
  • scanlate-assets-v1 — Cache storage for offline audio and image files

5. Managing Cookies

You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:

  • View what cookies are stored
  • Delete individual or all cookies
  • Block cookies from specific or all websites
  • Set preferences for first-party vs third-party cookies

Please note that blocking our essential cookies will prevent you from signing in to the Service. You can clear offline data (IndexedDB and cache storage) from the Settings panel within the Scanlate app.

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
